Privacy Policy
This English version is provided for convenience. The legally binding version is the German Datenschutzerklärung.
1. Controller
The controller responsible for data processing on this website is:
Kaan Yilmaz
Kolonnenstraße 8, 10827 Berlin, Germany
Email: peliikan@outlook.com
2. The short version
- This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics or tracking tools.
- Fonts and icons are served from our own server, not from Google Fonts or any other third party.
- YouTube videos and Twitch streams and chats only load once you explicitly allow it with a click.
3. Hosting and server logs
This website is delivered via Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. When you visit the website, your browser automatically sends information to Cloudflare’s servers, where it is briefly processed in log files. This includes in particular:
- the IP address of the requesting device
- the date and time of access
- the name and URL of the requested file
- the referrer URL (the page you came from)
- the browser and operating system used
This processing is needed to deliver the website technically and to protect it against attacks and abuse (e.g. DDoS protection). The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is providing the website securely, reliably and quickly. Cloudflare only gives us aggregated, anonymous statistics from this (e.g. number of page views); we draw no conclusions about individual visitors.
Cloudflare processes the data as our processor under a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR). Data may be transferred to the USA in the process. Cloudflare is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, so the transfer is covered by an adequacy decision of the European Commission (Art. 45 GDPR), supplemented by standard contractual clauses. Log data is only kept for as long as necessary for these purposes. More information: Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
4. Fonts and icons
All fonts and icons on this website are bundled locally and served from our own server. Viewing the pages does not open any connection to Google Fonts, cdnjs or other third parties for this purpose.
5. Embedded content from YouTube and Twitch
On the home page and the Tiefsee project page you can watch a YouTube video as well as Twitch live streams and chats. This content is first shown only as a placeholder. Only when you click “Load” does your browser connect to the respective provider’s servers. In doing so, your IP address, browser and device information and the address of the page you are on are transmitted in particular; the provider may also use cookies or similar technologies on your device.
- YouTube: Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. We use the privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). Data may be transferred to Google LLC in the USA; Google is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (Art. 45 GDPR). Google Privacy Policy
- Twitch: Twitch Interactive, Inc., 350 Bush Street, 2nd Floor, San Francisco, CA 94104, USA. We cannot confirm that an adequacy decision covers Twitch. The transfer to the USA is therefore based on your explicit consent (Art. 49(1)(a) GDPR). The USA may not offer a level of data protection comparable to the EU; in particular, US authorities may access data without you having effective legal remedies against this. Twitch Privacy Notice
The legal basis for loading this content is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, § 25(1) TDDDG). We have no influence on the nature and scope of the processing by the providers.
If you tick “Always load” when loading, we store this choice in your browser’s local storage (localStorage) so you aren’t asked again on every visit. This entry only contains the information “allowed” and is never sent to us (§ 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG). You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future:
6. Links to social networks
References to Twitch, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Discord, X and CurseForge are plain links. Only when you click one of them are you taken to the respective provider, whose privacy policy then applies.
7. Contact form and email
If you use the contact form on the home page, the information you enter (name or handle, email address, optionally a channel or link, topic and message) is forwarded via Cloudflare (see section 3) as an email to my inbox. The message is not stored on the website or at Cloudflare in the process. To prevent abuse, your IP address is used briefly to limit the number of submissions per minute, and an invisible check field keeps out automated spam bots. Name, email address and message are required, as I can’t answer your inquiry otherwise. The same applies accordingly if you email me directly.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR if your inquiry relates to a contract, and otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in answering inquiries and in protection against spam). My mailbox is provided by Microsoft (Outlook.com), where your message is stored. Microsoft is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. The data is deleted as soon as it is no longer needed to handle your inquiry, unless statutory retention obligations apply.
8. Cookies and local storage
This website itself sets no cookies. Only two settings are kept in your browser’s local storage (localStorage), and only if you choose them yourself: your “Always load” choice for YouTube or Twitch (see section 5) and the “Accessible view” when it is switched on. These entries never leave your device and can be removed at any time with the respective switch or in your browser settings (§ 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG). Only after embedded content has loaded can the respective provider set its own cookies; its privacy policy applies to these.
9. Sharing of data
Your personal data is not passed on to third parties for any purposes other than those named in this policy.
10. Your rights
With regard to the personal data concerning you, you have the following rights towards us:
- the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR)
- the right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR) and erasure (Art. 17 GDPR)
- the right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
- the right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
- the right to withdraw consent you have given at any time, with effect for the future (Art. 7(3) GDPR)
Right to object: Where we process data on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, you can object to the processing at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation (Art. 21 GDPR).
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The authority responsible for us is the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit), Alt-Moabit 59–61, 10555 Berlin, Germany, www.datenschutz-berlin.de.
No automated decision-making, including profiling (Art. 22 GDPR), takes place.
11. Data security
This website uses TLS/SSL encryption for all content transferred between your browser and the server.
